Whoever said breakfast is the most important meal of the day was awfully misinformed…

Brunch is obviously far, far superior.
Lucky for you, Sydney knows brunch like the back of it’s hand, making for a tough (but tasty) competition between cafés.

The Liven team is forever thankful for the person that coined the term ‘brunch’ - officially making it acceptable to eat between meals, drink mimosa’s and binge on pancakes at 11am.
That person is our favourite human.

So as a tribute, we’ve gone ahead and sorted through endless brunch venues to find five of our favourites.
Why you ask?
To save YOU from the tiresome work of choosing which bucket loads of smashed avo you're going to shovel into your mouth, and get straight to the task at hand.
Duh.

(All venues mentioned accept Liven, giving you a quarter of you bill back every time. You’ll never be stumped for brunch $$$)

THE RUSTY RABBIT (Darlinghurst)

The rabbit might be rusty, but their brunch knowledge IS NOT. The menu covers every single brunch base... Pancakes with ricotta, passionfruit, berry compote, maple syrup and crushed pistachios this morning? Smashed avo or pumpkin? Plain ol’ eggs and bacon? Perhaps you could even make like Dr. Suess and get some green eggs and ham?

We should also mention… AESTHETICS.
Left, right and centre.
The food is pretty and colourful, plus the venue makes you feel like you’re in an earthy, jungle cubby house.
Make sure you take 47382 pictures before you eat.
They're totally used to it.

THE RESERVOIR (Surry Hills)

Modern Australian meets Greek gastronomy in a deliciously delectable brunch fusion.
Welcome to The Reservoir, dogs.
Rightfully deserving of very nearly name sharing with a Q.T. flick.

If you haven't done brunch the Greek way yet, we're calling it... Now's the time.
Sujuk sausage, haloumi, dukkah and pita bread...

We're ridiculously excited for you.

ANGEL (Queenscliff)

Skip the mimosas and just get champagne with brunch.
If a place called Angel allows it, it must be okay.

Brunch the fancy way without breaking budget.
Suss out their spiced butternut pumpkin salad or their smashed avo and salsa on toast - all best served with champagne. (It's 5 o'clock somewhere.😉)

Plus, you'll enjoy some of the best brunch views Sydney has to offer... The balcony towers over the beach that's only a view steps away and also allows the perfect vantage point for city views.

Hello, heaven? The only Angel you need is riiiight here.

CAFE KENSINGTON (Kogarah)

Straight Outta Tunisia.

Cafe Kensington serves Shakshuka on their brunch menu.
Never had it?? Think egg poached in the sauce of tomatoes, with cumin infused roasted veggies and a garlic baguette.
Yep, it IS as good as it sounds.

You could also try their crumbed potato and eggs, traditional porridge, an omelette or even just a classic big brekkie with the lot.

OUROBOROS (Surry Hills)

Brunch with a difference!

Ouroboros is an organic whole food cafe, so even the treats will leave you mostly guilt free.
The menu flaunts brunch classics with a Mediterranean twist, like Spanish chorizo scrambled eggs, the Dukkah stack, corn fritters, maple spelt granola and salmon benedict.

For our paleo pals - you've got your own menu item! Dig in to their huge "Ouroboro's Paleo Breakfast."

Now feast, beautiful brunchers.
